Emergency: Tonga

A state of emergency has been declared in Tonga. Tens of thousands of people were forced to take cover in evacuation centres overnight, leaving their homes, while the category four Cyclone Gita tore over the nation with winds gusting up to 278 km/h.

The level of damage to crops, homes, vegetation and infrastructure is extremely high following the cyclone.

Please will you help provide life-saving assistance including emergency shelter, food, clean water and hygiene kits for people who desperately need it?

With the number of people seeking shelter at evacuation centres expecting to increase over the coming days, your support is needed more than ever.
