Help those affected by conflict in Gaza

The people of Gaza urgently need your help. More than 2,100 people have lost their lives already with the number rising every day. Thousands have been injured and over 1.7 million people have been affected by the destruction of water, electricity and waste infrastructure. Act for Peace's partner on the ground provides medical care and trauma support, work which will be increasingly needed in dealing with the impact and aftermath of the war. According to the UN, at least 60,000 children will need trauma counselling, and that number could increase.

How your church can help

  1. Hold a prayer vigil for the Christian communities in Palestine and Israel.
  2. Raise much needed emergency funds to help those in need through an open plate collection.

Hold a prayer vigil for the Christian communities in Palestine and Israel.

Pray together as a congregation for all who are suffering, and for peace in the Middle East.

Prayer for Peace in Gaza and Israel

Prayer offered by The Church of England

Lord God of compassion,
whose will is for peace built on righteousness,
we pray for peace in Gaza and Israel:
for an end to hostilities,
for comfort and help for all who suffer,
and for reconciliation between Palestine and Israel,
through Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.

ACT Palestine Forum prayer vigil for peace in the Middle East

Compiled and written by the LWF Jerusalem Program staff.

Almighty God, deliverer, protector and advocate of the injured and suffering; when the foundations of the earth are shaking, give strength to all your people to uphold justice and safeguard the rights and lives of all, especially the most vulnerable in society.
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

We pray not for Arab or Jew, nor for Palestinian or Israeli, but pray rather that we might not divide them in our prayers, but keep them together as one humanity in our hearts.
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

God of Justice, bless our Christian, Muslim, and Jewish sisters and brothers who work for peace through justice. Strengthen our resolve to advocate for an end to the Occupation and to the hostilities between Israelis and Palestinians in the face of seemingly endless violence and tragedy. Guide the leaders of the nations of the Middle East to know your will and to support a just peace for all of your children.
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

More ways to take action

You can help prevent children like Maala being born with chronic illnesses by helping pregnant women stay healthy and nourished in the first place.

Take the Act for Peace Ration Challenge and eat the same rations as a Syrian refugee during Refugee Week (June 2017). Raise money to support refugees who have lost everything, and challenge perspectives – including your own.

Right now, thousands of innocent people are fleeing Syria every day to protect their families from bloodshed, violence and death. We need your support to provide emergency relief packs to the families fleeing in Syria.
