How to help – for Churches

Acting for peace together

Churches have always been at the heart of Act for Peace.

Across Australia, congregations are responding to the reality of conflict, disaster and displacement through prayer, generosity, advocacy and community. Together, we are part of something bigger: a shared calling to seek peace with justice and to stand alongside those who have been forced from their homes.

Whether your church has partnered with us for many years, or you’re just beginning to explore how to respond, we would love to walk alongside you.

Ways your church can get involved

Christmas Bowl

For over 75 years, Australian churches have come together through the Christmas Bowl, a powerful expression of unity, generosity and hope.

Each year, churches across the country share the Christmas story in a way that invites people to respond to the needs of our world today, supporting communities as they rebuild, recover and look to the future with hope.

We’re so grateful for every church that has been part of this story.

Here you can:

  • Stay connected as we prepare for Christmas Bowl 2026

Refugee Sunday

Refugee Sunday takes place during Refugee Week and offers a moment for churches to pause, reflect and respond together to the reality of global displacement.

More than 123 million people around the world have been forced from their homes due to conflict, disaster and persecution. Refugee Sunday is an opportunity for your congregation to:

  • Learn about the experiences of displaced people and communities
  • Pray for those seeking safety and those rebuilding their lives
  • Act in solidarity—through giving, speaking up, welcoming and ongoing learning

Take action for peace with justice

We partner with the Micah Australia network to support churches who feel called to speak up and take action on issues of justice.

Through the Micah Church program, your congregation can:

  • Engage in advocacy on issues affecting people experiencing poverty and displacement
  • Join a movement of churches seeking justice at a national and global level
  • Take practical steps to live out your faith in the public sphere

If your church is looking to deepen its engagement through advocacy and collective action, this is a meaningful next step.

“If we recognise that we are all children of God, then we are called to respond to the needs of others—both spiritual and practical—with one shared purpose: to honour God in all we do.”

~ Zendakwaye Zendakwaye, Board member, Christian Care, Zimbabwe

Let's walk together

Whether your church chooses to respond through prayer, generosity, learning or action, you are part of a wider community seeking peace with justice.

We would love to support you, resource you and walk alongside you.
