Act for Peace in Afghanistan

Afghanistan is struggling to recover from more than a quarter century of conflict, with violence still raging in parts of the country. It is one of the most heavily mined nations in the world and home to a booming narcotics trade. The country's infant mortality rates are among the highest in the world. Due to the oppressive policies of the Taliban regime and the continuous decades of fighting that the country has experienced, over 50% of Afghans, or 25 million people, are living below the poverty line.

Act for Peace’s project partners are working toward overcoming the current drought and food shortages in Afghanistan. In order to do this, our project partners are providing over 500 Afghans with opportunities for income generation and over 1000 farmers with increased access to irrigation for their crops and livestock. Not only will this increase the personal incomes of 1,500 Afghans, it will also increase food security for 3,500 additional people due to larger crop yields.

$50
can increase farmers agricultural production through the supply of improved wheat seed
$100
can provide a vulnerable family of five with one month’s food
