Act for Peace in West Papua

Act for Peace is working with the Christian NGOs Network in Indonesia (CNNI) / Jaringan Kerja Lembaga – Lembaga Pelayanan Kristen di Indonesia (JK LPK). CNNI is working to strengthen more than 400 Christian NGOs in Indonesia through capacity building programs supporting HIV/AIDS prevention and care, disaster preparedness and a rights based approach to alleviating poverty and developing democracy. Specifically, JKLPK has 101 active participants in Papua and west Papua, comprising non-government organisations, educational institutes, church service institutes.

As part of its proposal for 2009-2011, CNNI plans to further develop organisational capacity through:
  • Targeted trainings in strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation and finance management

  • Civil society and democratisation programs encouraging information sharing and dialogue on public issues and human rights

  • People based economy and poverty reduction programs focusing on entrepreneurial opportunities for low and middle income beneficiaries

  • HIV/AIDS awareness raising and support programming

  • Disaster risk management and response training at the community level

  • Advocacy based initiatives supporting key human rights themes  




can provide for one person to attend a Training of Trainers course on HIV and AIDS awareness and support to affected persons allowing them to train others in their community.
