What We Do
Act for Peace empowers war-torn communities to protect refugees, reduce poverty, prevent conflicts and manage disasters. We have been doing this since 1948. Our overseas partners are currently assisting over one million people in 15 of the world's worst conflict areas, including Sudan, Horn of Africa, Zimbabwe, the Middle East, Burma and Sri Lanka.
For example, in the past year our partners in Sudan have empowered communities to:
Protect and assist around 300,000 internally displaced people in Darfur |
Reduce poverty by building and running schools, water programs and health clinics (attended by over 250,000 people last year) |
Resolve conflicts in the regions of Kurdufan and Central Equitoria by running successful peace processes |
