Learn about the difference Act for Peace’s project partners are making in the world by reading through our Annual Report. Each Annual Report gives an overview of what Act for Peace has accomplished over the year in the countries we work in to help build the key foundations for peace. Act for Peace helps empower war-torn communities worldwide to reduce extreme poverty, protect refugees and displaced people and to prevent further conflict. These reports also provide financial breakdowns showing how funds are used in our work overseas and here in Australia.
Thanks to passionate people like you in Australia and around the world we were able to work together to achieve safety, justice and dignity for over a million people affected by conflict and disaster during the past year.
Today, there are more refugees, asylum seekers and displaced people worldwide than at any time since World War II. That’s nearly 60 million people forced to flee their homes to escape conflict and disaster. These are the world’s most vulnerable people; mothers and fathers struggling to feed their children; sons and daughters missing out on an education; people dying for want of basic medical care that we take for granted in Australia; and families who, after losing everything, are not getting the support they deserve to rebuild their lives. It’s a terrible injustice. And one that we can, and must, overcome.
We believe that when people all over the world work together, big changes really are possible. We’re passionate about building a better world. And that’s why we’ve made it our mission to act in partnership with other passionate people, like you, across the globe to achieve safety, justice and dignity in communities threatened by conflict and natural disaster. We don’t think there is any task more important. Thank you for joining us.
As the international aid agency of the National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA) we work ecumenically across religious and cultural boundaries. We bring together individuals, communities and churches from 19
denominations in Australia with local partners across the globe (many of whom are Councils of Churches themselves) to create sustainable change for those who need it most.
Through your support of Act for Peace, you are part of a network of more than 140 organisations across 130 countries – the ACT Alliance, a global grassroots coalition for action. Together we’re working to confront injustice and create positive, sustainable change in communities threatened by conflict and natural disaster. By working together we can share knowledge, resources, speak with a louder voice and, ultimately, achieve more impact.
Act for Peace works to achieve positive and sustainable change through three mutually- reinforcing categories of programming: short- term humanitarian aid, long-term development, and advocacy to influence policy so that it leads to strengthened systems and sustainable change. All these elements are essential to ensure we reach the most vulnerable, achieve the maximum possible impact from our resources and bring about lasting change.
We all have a role to play in creating a better world. When you took action through Act for Peace by campaigning, fundraising, donating or volunteering, you be joined thousands of others passionate about global justice. We have continued to expand our action network in order to grow funds and increase the impact your support makes to lives around the world.
