Vegetable Garden

$40 is the gift of a vegetable garden to a refugee family from Burma to help them grow food to feed their children.

"Life in Mae La camp is better than in Burma. Because I grow vegetables I can support my family. (This) program has made a big difference to my family’s life. I can stay freely and not be afraid.” - Than, Mae La camp.

Many families forced to flee their homes to escape conflict in Burma are now living in refugee camps in Thailand. Confined to these camps and without an official way to earn a living outside these camps, most refugees rely on the food rations provided by Act for Peace’s local partner The Border Consortium to survive.

Your gift of $40 will provide a refugee from Burma with vegetable seeds and a gardening tool kit to help them grow their own vegetable garden. The vegetables they grow will help supplement the food rations they receive while living in the camps, and also allow them to earn an income by selling their extra produce.
How Gifts for Peace work

More ways to take action

Right now, children are starving to death in South Sudan. Please give an urgent gift today to halt this famine before it kills even more children.

Take the Act for Peace Ration Challenge and eat the same rations as a Syrian refugee during Refugee Week (June 2018). Raise money to support refugees who have lost everything, and challenge perspectives – including your own.

Right now, thousands of innocent people are fleeing Syria every day to protect their families from bloodshed, violence and death. We need your support to provide emergency relief packs to the families fleeing in Syria.
