Pedal for Peace

On Saturday 13th September, Act for Peace – in partnership with Rival Bikes – made an official attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for the Most Participants in a Static Cycling Relay in 12 hours!

Held at Rival Bikes in Wynnum, 400 riders made the attempt in a time of 10 hours and 3 minutes, 21 riders more than the current Guinness Record of 379.

Ranging from ages 10 all the way to 83, the riders included our very own Peter Wotherspoon, Ross Vasta (Federal Member for Bonner), Neil Symes (State Member for Lytton), Councillor Peter Cumming, and Australian cricketing legend Matthew Hayden. Each rider had the responsibility of riding a minimum of 1 kilometre before passing on to the next rider relay-style.

Thank you to the local Rotary Club who provided a BBQ and drinks, with all proceeds going towards helping survivors of conflict and disaster to rebuild their lives. The day was a great success, with event riders sharing their excitement with friends via social media. By the end of the day, we had around 20 riders who were still wanting to be involved! Most importantly, all proceeds of the day will make a huge difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

We would also like to say a big thank you to all who were involved in the Pedal for Peace and their continued support of the work of Act for Peace. If you would like to host a similar event, you can get in contact with your local development officer here, or alternatively email us at info@actforpeace.org.au

Take the Act for Peace Ration Challenge and eat the same rations as a Syrian refugee during Refugee Week (June 2017). Raise money to support refugees who have lost everything, and challenge perspectives – including your own.

Right now, thousands of innocent people are fleeing Syria every day to protect their families from bloodshed, violence and death. We need your support to provide emergency relief packs to the families fleeing in Syria.
