However%2c according to the last two years of data published by the OECD Creditor Reporting System%2c Australia%26rsquo%3bs contribution to conflict prevention and resolution%2c peace and security sector programs has fallen to only 1.4%25 of its reported ODA.%3cbr /%3e %3cbr /%3e %3cstrong%3eWhy should Australia increase investment in global conflict prevention and resolution%2c peace and security%3f%3c/strong%3e%3cbr /%3e %26bull%3b%26nbsp%3b%26nbsp%3b%26nbsp%3bNo low-income%2c conflict-affected or fragile country has achieved a single Millennium Development Goal.%3cbr /%3e %26bull%3b%26nbsp%3b%26nbsp%3b%26nbsp%3b43 million people are currently displaced by conflict%2c persecution and armed violence%2c the highest number in more than 15 years.%3cbr /%3e %26bull%3b%26nbsp%3b%26nbsp%3b%26nbsp%3bA 25%25 reduction in violence could reap a peace dividend of at least %242 trillion%2c according to the %3cem%3e2011 Global Peace Index%3c/em%3e.%3cbr /%3e %3cbr /%3e Thank you for your consideration of this urgent issue.
